TSSAA wrestling state champions up for Ponce Law Boys Athlete of the Week

There were some huge TSSAA basketball and TSSAA wrestling state championship performances last week.

Landon Lester, Battle Creek: Lester had 18 points, six rebounds and two steals in a 65-59 defeat to Montgomery Central.

Reed Loefell, Brentwood: Loefell upset top-seeded Tristan Collier from Green Hill, 9-1, in the Class AA 138-pound state final at the TSSAA wrestling state championship. 

Braylon Marshall, Macon County: Marshall led Macon County with 24 points, including one 3-pointer. 

Brodie Melzoni, Nolensville: Melzoni won his second consecutive TSSAA wrestling state championship with a 4-1 win in the boys Class AA 175-pound final over Knoxville Halls’ Barrett Whaley. 

Owen Looney, Page: Looney scored 19 points with five 3-pointers in a 73-66 overtime win over Summit. 

JD Longley, Ravenwood: Longley won the 144-pound TSSAA wrestling state title with a 4-1 decision over Blackman's Landon McLean.

Zachery Little, Summit: Little won his second straight Class AA wrestling state title, claiming 5-3 decision over Kirkwood’s Luke Louzenksy at 157 pounds. 

Nate Graham, Station Camp: Graham won his second straight wrestling state title, pinning Soddy Daisy’s Luke Myhan in 1:00 at 113 pounds in Class A. 

Gage Gibbs, Trousdale County: Gibbs led all scorers with 40 points, including three 3-pointers, in a win over Knowledge Academies. 

Lukas Price, Tullahoma: Price added 15 points, three rebounds, one assist and one steal in a 72-54 win over Lawrence County. 

Jeffrey Whittaker, White House Heritage: Whittaker led the Patriots with 25 points in a win over KIPP Nashville.
