3 more GTA men charged with drug trafficking, auto theft in Project Road King

Niagara Regional Police, together with the RCMP’s Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit and Criminal Intelligence Service Ontario, have laid charges against three more people in Project Road King .

The large-scale operation was targeting organized crime networks involved in drug trafficking and organized auto theft and on Sept. 9, 2025, concluded its original takedown, resulting in 30 arrests, 213 charges, significant drug and firearm seizures, and the recovery of 38 stolen vehicles valued at more than $3.3 million.

Through continued collaboration with the Canada Border Services Agency, detectives also recovered 43 additional stolen vehicles valued at more than $3.8 million. The vehicles were located at a B.C. port and destined for international shipment.

As a result, three more people were taken into custody Feb. 18-19 and efforts are ongoing to locate and arrest a fourth individual, who remains outstanding.

Keir McColl, 39, of Ancaster, Ont., is facing charges of conspiracy to traffic property obtained by crime over $5,000, conspiracy to commit theft over $5,000, conspiracy to intimidate by threats of violence, unlawfully producing fentanyl, possession of cocaine for the purposes of trafficking and failing to comply with release order.

Tudor Sopterian, 32, of Hamilton, is facing charges of conspiracy to traffic property obtained by crime over $5,000, conspiracy to commit theft over $5,000, conspiracy to intimidate by threats of violence, unlawfully producing fentanyl, and failing to comply with release order.

Dejan Zlojo, 43, of Etobicoke is facing charges of conspiracy to traffic property obtained by crime over $5,000, and conspiracy to commit theft over $5,000.

Fourth man sought 

An arrest warrant has been issued for Nikola Scepanovic, 58, of Burlington, on charges of conspiracy to traffic property obtained by crime over $5,000 and conspiracy to commit theft over $5,000.

Project Road King remains an active investigation, and further charges are anticipated.

“Project Road King highlights the power of coordinated, intelligence-led policing. While the initial takedown disrupted a significant organized crime network, our work continues,” said Niagara Chief of Police Bill Fordy in a statement.

“The additional arrests and recovery of stolen vehicles destined for international shipment demonstrate our commitment to dismantling criminal enterprises that fuel drug trafficking and auto theft in our communities. We will continue working alongside our partners to dismantle these networks and hold those responsible accountable”
