Vikings biggest need for the 2026 offseason isn't what you think

· Yahoo Sports

The Vikings have a plethora of needs to deal with and address this offseason. The biggest would seem to be something like cornerback or safety, perhaps even the quarterback position. Except if you ask CBS Sports writer Josh Edwards.

He went through the biggest needs for each team heading into the offseason and draft cycle. When it came time to discuss the Vikings, the route he took was one we don't often see mentioned by analysts. When discussing the Vikings, he leaned in on their linebacker situation. The team has Blake Cashman, but players Ivan Pace Jr. and Eric Wilson are both free agents in one form or another.

Edwards writes, "How should Minnesota handle its quarterback room this offseason? The Vikings have seen Sam Darnold and Daniel Jones come and go in recent years only to invest in underwhelming first-round selection J.J. McCarthy. One would think the franchise adds competition to the position. Defensive line and linebacker are deficient areas on the roster."

Lucky for the Vikings, the 2026 NFL Draft is one of the deepest linebacker classes in recent memory. They could draft a starter at a value to pair with Cashman on day two in rounds two or three. But also, they could run it back with Wilson or Pace Jr. and push that selection to day three.
