The Green Bay Packers appear set to cut ties with one of their running backs and the New York Giants, Pittsburgh Steelers, Las Vegas Raiders and Dallas Cowboys could all have interest.

According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, the Packers are not going to place a restricted free-agent tender on running back Emanuel Wilson.

Barring the Packers re-signing him before free agency, that means Wilson is headed for the open market.

"The Packers are not placing a tender on running back Emanuel Wilson, per source," Fowler reported.

The move is at least somewhat surprising, as Wilson proved to be a solid backup to Josh Jacobs the past two years. Wilson has averaged 4.5 yards per carry during his career and posted a 100-yard performance in place of an injured Jacobs in 2025.

While Wilson doesn't provide much as a pass-catcher, he is a powerful runner who can wear down a defense with his physical style. He would be a fantastic backup running back option for any team in need of one.

As previously mentioned, we believe the Steelers, Giants, Raiders and Cowboys could be among the teams to show interest in Wilson.

The Steelers have a pending free agent in Kenneth Gainwell, and while Wilson would not be the asset in the passing game Gainwell is, Jaylen Warren is good enough in that area to take on a bigger role to make up for the possible loss of Gainwell, who is going to be more expensive after a career year.

The Giants are reportedly big-game hunting for a running back, both in the draft and free agency, as the team is looking to get as physical as possible on the ground.

If all else fails and the Giants swing and miss on some of the top running backs available, we could see them turning to a physical runner like Wilson.

In Las Vegas, the Raiders need depth behind Ashton Jeanty with Zamir White and Raheem Mostert both slated to be free agents. Wilson would be an upgrade over both and can take a ton of pressure off Jeanty by handling some of the dirty work.

Last but not least, we have the Cowboys, who have re-signed Javonte Williams but have shaky depth options behind him.

We saw Williams break down a bit at the end of last season after carrying a big load, so it's conceivable someone like Wilson may be on Dallas' radar.
