The Miami Heat have a promising player with Kel'el Ware, but it has been a bizarre two seasons with him. He is clearly one of the most talented young big men in the league. Ware is a hyper-athletic big man who can throw down dunks and hit three-pointers at a reliable rate.
Unfortunately, Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra has an interesting dynamic with the 21-year-old big man. Spoelstra knows his player is talented, but he is not giving him the opportunities he deserves, which has naturally led to some frustration from the young player.
Adebayo will continue to support Ware as a veteran
Adebayo has become a respected leader in the Heat's locker room. He is the longest-tenured active Heat player, which means he has some sway within their group. He is also a proven star, so he is using that to mentor Ware properly.
With Ware and Spoelstra's weird dynamic, the former has chosen not to listen to his coach at times. Adebayo finds that it is the right time to step up as the leader in place of Spoelstra.

Adebayo was once an impressive youngster, but he had to keep working on earning his keep. That is probably what Spoelstra wants to see from Ware. Adebato knows how to mesh with his head coach after nearly a decade of working together. That is why he is stepping in as a mentor to the youngster.
"That’s how it is sometimes. You listen to the coach keep yelling at you, yelling at you. At some point, you’re gonna block out the noise. For me, just understanding what the kid wants to do in this league, he’ll turn his head to me sometimes, and I gotta be able to give him advice when I can," Adebayo said to Kacy Hintz of Local 10 News in Miami.
Moving forward, Ware should continue working for his opportunities in Miami. It can be challenging not to get the minutes he deserves, but that is part of the process. Thankfully, he has a leader who continues to advocate for him and mentor him every chance he gets.
