Five-peat complete: Wossman defeats LaGrange in D-II NS championship

The No. 4 Lady Wildcats completed the five-peat by defeating No. 2 LaGrange 50-39 in the Division II nonselect final on Saturday, March 7, at Southeastern Louisiana’s University Center.

Wossman ripped off the first six points of the game and led 16-1 at the end of the first quarter.

Sophomore Heaven Weeks, who recorded a double-double by halftime, totaled 26 points, 16 rebounds, an assist, four steals and a block for the Lady Wildcats. Junior Makaiya Johnson had 11 points, 10 rebounds, an assist and four steals. Sophomore London Landers scored seven points, grabbed nine boards and dished out two assists.

LaGrange shaved Wossman's lead back into the single digits during the third quarter and later cut it down to four at the end of the quarter. Sophomore Kayla Harding had 13 points and added six rebounds and a steal for the Lady Gators. Senior Marleigh Alexis had a strong second half, totaling 12 points, five rebounds and a steal. Freshman Zaliyah Guillory had six points and five steals.
