The Las Vegas Raiders are signing veteran kicker Matt Gay.

6-0, 232 pounds.

NFL experience:

Gay has been in the NFL for even seasons and he has bounced around. He has played for the Buccaneers, Rams, Colts, Commanders and 49ers. The 49ers signed him after he was released. He’s made 84.3 percent of his kicks in his career.

College:

He went to Utah,

Raiders’ connections:

He was with Las Vegas general manager John Spytek in Tampa Bay in 2019. New Las Vegas special teams coach Joe Decamilas was his his coach with the Rams in 2021-22 and he had his best seasons there. But, four years removed from a best season is a long time for any player.

How he will fit in with Raiders:

Gay, who turns 32 this weekend, will replace Daniel Carlson, who was the Raiders’ kicker since 2018. Carlson has some lost some success in recent seasons, but he has been mostly solid. This is a very interesting choice by the Raiders.
