Valley's Curry wrestling for state title; Newark basketball falls
· Yahoo Sports
COLUMBUS − A Licking Valley wrestler will attempt to stand atop the podium at the state tournament while the Newark boys basketball team's impressive season came to an end March 14.
Valley senior Joe Curry has made a dominant run through his side of the 126-pound bracket and will attempt to win a state championship on March 15. Curry wrestles against Galion's Carter Trukovich shortly after 5:15 p.m. at Ohio State.

Curry won 16-2 on the tournament's first day before beating Granville's A.J. Bergeron 7-1 and Kenston's Carter Baran 7-0 on the second day. Curry won the 120-pound championship as a freshman at Bishop Watterson.
Newark could not quite overcome a hot start from Hilliard Bradley, falling 57-46 in a Division I regional final at Taft Coliseum. The Wildcats fell into a 10-0 hole at the start and could never get over the hump.
The Wildcats were playing in their first regional final since 2008. They fell for the second time to the Jaguars, who earned their program's first trip to state.
Back at wrestling, Curry's Valley teammate Brody Miller at 106 pounds and the record-setting Granville trio of Henry Geiger at 113, Nash Finley at 120 and Bergeron at 126 also have clinched spots on the podium. In girls, Watkins Memorial's Mila Cruz at 100 and Valley's Addison Justice at 135 dropped semifinal matches and have clinched at least sixth-place finishes.
