Canucks Defenceman Elias Pettersson Sustains Injury In Loss To The Kraken
· Yahoo Sports
The Vancouver Canucks are down yet another defenceman as Elias Pettersson departed from tonight’s game against the Seattle Kraken due to injury. Pettersson initially left the bench during the second period, returned for a while, but remained on the bench. He did not return to the bench through the rest of the third period.
Pettersson’s injury was sustained after taking a shot. He required help coming off the ice and did not put any weight on his left leg as he skated off. Canucks Head Coach Adam Foote provided an update on his condition after the game.

“I believe it was a shot he took, they’re going to get a scan tomorrow.”
When asked about who could be called-up for the Canucks in the event that Pettersson's injury keeps him out longer-term, Foote didn't commit to an answer, but specified that more information would be available tomorrow.
Pettersson is not the only injured Canucks defenceman, as Pierre-Olivier Joseph was placed on injured reserve last week ahead of the NHL Trade Deadline. Derek Forbort also remains on the Canucks’ IR, though he’s unlikely to return for the remainder of the season.
Vancouver resumes their current home stand with a game against the Florida Panthers on Tuesday at 7:00 pm PT. If Kevin Lankinen gets the start, it will be his 200th career NHL game.
