Josh Allen has an important voice.

In some ways, that goes without saying, but it got a new reminder recently as the Buffalo Bills went through the early stages of free agency.

One key move the Bills made was signing Connor McGovern to prevent the standout center from leaving for a new team.

McGovern is known to be one of Allen's best friends, and it sounds like Allen was key in retaining him.

ESPN's Alaina Getzenberg shared this in a new article on Wednesday:

It's not new to hear that quarterback Josh Allen was involved in attracting or keeping a player, but center Connor McGovern praised his quarterback's efforts. "It doesn't hurt when you have No. 17 in your corner also trying to drive things through," McGovern said. That only continues to reinforce the impact of Allen's voice.

Earlier in the offseason, it had been reported that the Bills hadn't even spoken to McGovern yet.

Potentially after that, Allen made sure that didn't stay the case. He likely knew how valuable his QB-center relationship was to the whole offense, and he helped in some way, shape or form to get a contract done.

"McGovern is a steady blocker, and his 97.2% pass block win rate tied for second among 31 qualifying centers last season," ESPN's Matt Bowen wrote earlier in the offseason.

The Bills did lose quality offensive guard David Edwards to a contract with the Saints, but at least they retained one of their free agent linemen, apparently in part thanks to Allen.
