ESPN and Kevin McNamara were first to report the news.

A press conference is expected Tuesday, per McNamara.

Hodgson, 38, will replace Kim English, who was fired this month after three seasons.

An Olean, N.Y. native, Hodgson was also linked to the Syracuse job.

In his one year at USF, he went 29-5, 15-3 in the American Athletic Conference and lost in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

Before that, he was 45-28 in two seasons at Arkansas State. He previously worked as an assistant under head coach Nate Oats at Alabama and Buffalo.

Providence reportedly has north of $11 million in NIL money, making the job attractive.

Hodgson will join a Who’s Who of college coaches in the Big East, including St. John’s Hall of Famer Rick Pitino, UConn’s Danny Hurley, Creighton’s Greg McDermott, Seton Hall’s Shaheen Holloway and Villanova’s Kevin Willard, among others.
