Nye hadn't pitched in nearly a month for Vanderbilt (14-12) but appeared close to returning, being listed as questionable on the most recent SEC injury reports.
Corbin didn't offer any specifics about Nye's injury. He had previously said Nye was dealing with a biceps issue.
"I'll let a a doctor talk to you about that," Corbin said. "We'll get him back at some point, but not this year."
Nye began this season as the Saturday starter and went 1-0 with an 0.00 ERA and 13 strikeouts in 10 innings across three starts. In his third start, against Arizona on Feb. 28, he left the game after an inning in which his fastball velocity was down significantly.
Nye is considered a potential first-round pick in the 2027 MLB Draft. He went 2-1 with a 3.55 ERA in 15 starts as a freshman, recording 58 strikeouts in 50⅔ innings, and was named a Freshman All-American.
Freshman right-hander Wyatt Nadeau took Nye's spot in the rotation after his injury. Nadeau is 1-1 with a 4.86 ERA in three starts, totaling 21 strikeouts in 15 innings. Nate Taylor was Vanderbilt's Sunday starter for the first five weekends of the season, but Tyler Baird drew the start instead of Taylor on March 22 at Mississippi State.
