Now, the 24-year-old Charlottetown man dropped in on the target-rich environment called TikTok, trolling for teens. One girl was sexually assaulted and he told a second 14-year-old he wanted to have sex with her.
The party unravelled when cops found three missing girls at Eddie’s crib. You can’t have sex with 14-year-olds and so last fall, he got dinged with four and a half years in a federal prison.
On the road to perversion
In court, there was the usual moaning about Eddie’s hard-luck life, including that he had suffered “social repercussions and lost all his friends” since he was busted.
But Worth has to know it could be worse. He could be 22-year-old Manitoba man Mahdi Hosseini .
Hosseini drove to a suburban Indianapolis hamlet of Avon on a mission. His quest involved sex with a 13-year-old girl he met online. Unfortunately for Hosseini, there was no Supreme Court of Canada, or feckless judges to bend themselves out of shape to give him a break.
Here’s what his life looks like: The next 46 years in an Indiana prison.
According to the Hendricks County Prosecutor’s Office, Hosseini pleaded guilty to child molesting and other related charges.
Her user name was “mahdiismyman”
According to cops, officers were called Trader’s Point Church last Aug. 30. The mother of a 13-year-old girl told cops that her daughter had met up with a man from Canada who had pretended to be the father of the girl’s friend.
Mom told detectives the girl met Hosseini last April on social media app, Discord. Her user name was … “mahdiismyman” in celebration of her adult paramour. Mom thought it was a “boy” in Canada, believing the distance offered protection.
But like the old Special Air Service motto, “Who Dares Wins,” Hosseini, bold as brass (no doubt believing he was in a Canadian courtroom) showed up at a garage sale at the family home. Why, I’m the dad of a friend of your daughter. I’m here to pick up the girl for an event.
Sexually explicit photos
The child left with Hosseini. He then took her to his motel and had sex with her multiple times. When he dropped her off, he told mom the event was cancelled. Mom noticed the Manitoba licence plate. And when mom and daughter went to church? The friendly Canadian visitor followed them.
The victim spilled on who he was and mom dropped a dime and the pedo was pinched. On her phone were raunchy messages and sexually explicit photos of the pair. She told him she was 13.
As the cops said in GoodFellas, “bye bye d—head, seeya in Attica” or at least Crown Point in Indiana.
Things also fell apart for pervert James Hjelmeland, 30, of Red Deer. He too was following the Hosseini method of ‘have perversions, will travel.’
This time, it was Orlando, Fla., where Hjelmeland hoped to find bliss in the arms of a 12-year-old girl. Instead, he was ensnared in a Orange County Sheriff’s Office sting. There was no little girl for Hjelmeland, only disgusted cops.
17 years in the slammer
He pleaded guilty to attempted enticement of a minor and multiple child sexual abuse material charges on Monday. Now he’s looking at doing a minimum of 17 years in a U.S. federal prison.
An undercover detective posed as the guardian of a 12-year-old and exchanged sexually explicit messages with the the Alberta man. During those conversations, the hyped-up Hjelmeland sent images and arranged travel from Canada to Orlando.
It turned out to be the end of the line in a place where sex crimes against children are taken seriously.
