Louisville assistant basketball coach Brian Kloman has spent the last decade as an assistant under Pat Kelsey, coaching with him at Winthrop and College of Charleston. July 17, 2024.

Louisville has lost a second assistant in as many days with the news that general manager (and former assistant) Brian Kloman is off to Auburn.

Kloman has spent each of the last two seasons working with Pat Kelsey, including the past two at Louisville. After serving as a standard assistant in 2024-25, Kloman was given the job of Executive Director of Player Personnel and Strategic Initiatives last August.

Kloman is a Tennessee graduate who has a pre-existing relationship with current Auburn head coach Steven Pearl.

I said this on the radio show earlier today, but I’ll say it again here: I wold expect Louisville to make one full-time assistant hire to replace the two departing assistants. There may also be more staff changes to come, but those are more likely to be lower level positions.

The offseason of change continues.
