USC takes shot at Oregon on social media after recruiting win
· Yahoo Sports
Another battle on the recruiting trail between conference foes came to a conclusion on Wednesday night, but things took an interesting turn on social media afterward.

The Oregon Ducks missed out on four-star cornerback Danny Lang, who announced his commitment to the USC Trojans. The Mater Dei star is the No. 53 overall player in the 2027 class, and he adds to the Trojans' No. 9-ranked recruiting class, according to 247 Sports. Meanwhile, the Ducks have the No. 13 class.
The Ducks and Trojans will be battling for many of the same recruits over the next few months, but USC felt the need to rub this one in a little bit more to their longtime rivals. In a post on social media, the Trojans mocked Oregon coach Dan Lanning's famous line, "The grass is damn green in Eugene."
In the short clip, a patch of green grass is sprayed USC red with one simple statement left at the end.
"Guess the grass wasn't greener."

Even though USC has a couple of wins over the Ducks on the recruiting trail lately, that hasn't translated into the same success on the field. Oregon boasts a four-game winning streak over the Trojans dating back to 2019, with the most recent win coming just four months ago at Autzen Stadium, when the Ducks took home a 42-27 victory. USC also has yet to make it to the College Football Playoff, while the Ducks have participated in the past two seasons.
USC earned a commitment from safety Honor Fa'alave Johnson, another Oregon target, earlier this month, and is trying hard to flip Oregon offensive tackle commit Drew Fielder, so the two programs will be visiting on the trail again soon. The Ducks will also make a trip to USC next season on Sept. 26.
The Trojans might be getting even with the Ducks in terms of recruiting in Southern California again, but the recent head-to-head success for the Ducks in the rivalry makes any trash-talking from USC a bit head-scratching.
We'll have to see if Lanning has any response for the latest victory lap by the Trojans, either at the podium or by making a statement on the recruiting trail.
