Happy meals, $5 beers: Fan favorite foods just got better at Polar Park

· Yahoo Sports

WORCESTER — This year, there’s one main goal for concessions at WooSox games: make the fan-favorite foods even better.

When fans arrive for Opening Day on Friday at Polar Park, they’re not going to find as many flashy, trendy new novelty items. Instead, they’re going to be pleasantly surprised when they see how some ballpark classics are served.

One of the biggest changes is aimed at the younger crowds. You can now order a hot dog, burger or chicken tenders as part of a Smiley Meal Deal.

Polar Park’s version of a Happy Meal

The Happy Meal-style boxes include a Capri Sun juice box, a bag of chips and a fun prize along with your food of choice. The Smiley Meal Deals will run $10 for hot dogs and burgers and $12 for chicken tenders.

At the start of the season, the Smiley Meal Deals will include some packs of WooSox trading cards. More toys and collectibles are expected to be available throughout the season.

The Oakview Group, which runs the food and beverage operation, is focusing on improving the fundamentals of ballpark foods. That means making the most popular foods better and making them more functional to order.

Burgers and dogs, better than ever

The hot dogs? George’s Coney Island is still there. Meanwhile, the hot dogs from Polar Park’s internal concessions are going to be even bigger.

Looking to grab a beer? You can now grab 16 oz. draft beers (including Masshole Light Lager and Heineken) from Behind the Plate, the Craft Corner and Harpoon Taps.

Want a burger? Polar Park now offers a double cheeseburger. That’s in addition to the returning series of Battle Burgers, which are specialty burgers themed after the particular opponent that is in town that day.

The rotating burgers now come in a special box that looks like the exterior of Polar Park.

Barbecue is back

Barbecue is once again a major factor at Polar Park. The Nacho Nacho Man stand on the upper right field concourse is now the go-to destination for pulled pork, pulled chicken and brisket in addition to helmet nachos.

Polar Park had been lacking top-notch barbecue at games ever since B.T.’s Smokehouse left the park. But in 2026, the WooSox are working with a local BBQ business to bring smoky goodness back to games.

BBQ is also making an appearance on Polar Park’s new specialty hot dog, which comes slathered in sauce and covered in fried onions.

Other changes to Polar Park

As you go around WooSox games, you’re likely to see some of the minor tweaks to the park that aim to improve the fan experience. Other changes were made to streamline the menu.

The walking surface of the upper right field concourse is now all sturdy stone. Previously, it had been a soft gravel that occasionally provided bad footing.

The Hanover Deck down the left field line now has a shaded awning on the second level, adding some nice cover there.

Polar Park is dialing back many of its state fair-style fried foods that it introduced last year. Corndogs are off the menu. Meanwhile, fried Oreos will now be a limited-time offering throughout the season.

The mac & cheese bites are off the menu. Meanwhile, the cheese triangles that were available last year have been swapped out for conventional mozzarella sticks.

You can check out all the changes when the WooSox play their first game of the season, Friday at 4:05 p.m. against the Syracuse Mets.
