The New England Patriots may not be playing football for quite some time, but Gillette Stadium is still going to be seeing quite a bit of action over the next few months. With the 2026 World Cup games set to take place at the stadium, fans got a sneak peek at what the action will look like when France and Brazil squared off for a friendly match in Foxboro, MA, on Thursday afternoon.

While there wasn't much on the line, this game meant quite a bit to one of France's stars, midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni. A football fan himself, Tchouameni frequently watched Tom Brady star for the Patriots at Gillette Stadium, and he revealed how much it meant to him to get an opportunity to play on the same field as one of his NFL heroes.

"That was great, especially for me, a football fan," Tchouameni said after the game. "Incredible to get the chance to play in the Tom Brady stadium. I texted him before the game to tell him that it was a pleasure for me to play in the stadium. Great atmosphere, great fan base. That was dope."

It's been a while since Brady took the field at Gillette Stadium as a player; he retired in 2022. However, he sparked some more unretirement rumors after he took the field for the Fanatics Flag Football Classic last weekend and promptly threw a pair of touchdowns.

Unfortunately for Tchouameni and many of Brady's other fans, a return doesn't seem likely, in large part because of his role with the Las Vegas Raiders as a minority owner. And yet, as Tchouameni's comments here prove, Brady's legacy is already set in stone, so much so that some folks refer to Gillette Stadium as Tom Brady Stadium."
