SUNRISE — The Florida Panthers always seem to get up for the Boston Bruins.

They certainly did on Thursday night.

Thanks to 28 saves from Sergei Bobrovsky — including 15 in the third period — the Panthers pulled out a 2-1 win and staved off elimination from the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the second straight night.

A regulation loss to Ottawa on Tuesday or Boston on Thursday would have knocked the two-time defending Stanley Cup champions out.

That has not happened just yet.

The Panthers took a 2-0 lead in the first off goals from Mackie Samoskevich and Sam Bennett with Bobrovsky doing the rest.

Although the Bruins scored late in the first, Boston got no closer.

It certainly tried.

The Panthers now head out on the road for a five-game road trip which opens with a back-to-back doubleheader against the Pittsburgh Penguins starting Saturday evening.

With the win Thursday night, the Panthers snapped Boston’s four-game winning streak and ended the season 3-0 against the Bruins.

HOW THEY SCORED

  • Panthers 1, Bruins 0 (4:20 1st): Mackie Samoskevich gets a goal in his third straight game, intercepting a pass from Henri Jokiharju before rolling into the left circle and ripping a wrist shot pas Jeremy Swayman.
  • Panthers 2, Bruins 0 (7:39 1st): Sam Bennett scores a beaut, taking a pass from A.J. Greer in the slot and picking his corner.
  • Panthers 2, Bruins 1 (19:33 1st): Fraser Minten finds a loose puck on the doorstep after Sergei Bobrovsky makes two saves. No one clears it out, and Minten pulls it onto his backhand and flips it through.
