Man, 28, charged in deadly 2025 shooting in Scarborough

A second man is now in custody for a deadly shooting that unfolded in Scarborough last fall.

But a third man is still sought for the shooting that claimed the life of a 42-year-old man.
Toronto Police say officers responded to the shooting near Sheppard Ave. E. and Brimley Rd. Around 10p.m. on Sept. 24, 2025.
“It is alleged that the victim and the suspects had attended an establishment,” police have previously said. “The victim and the suspects were involved in a physical confrontation.”
“The suspects then brandished a firearm and shot the victim,” police have alleged.
First responders performed life-saving measures at the scene and the victim was taken to hospital by emergency run.
However, the Woodbridge man succumbed to his injuries a few weeks later – on Oct. 19.
The victim was identified as Yueyuan Dong.
At the end of October 2025, police announced three suspects – Kai Chen, then 29, of Markham, Donald Keeshig, then 29, of Toronto, and Kye-Shawne Griffiths, then 28, of Brampton – had been identified were wanted on Canada-wide warrants.
Days later, on Nov. 9, Keeshig turned himself into police at 42 Division in Scarborough and he was charged with second-degree murder.

Police now say Griffiths, who has since turned 29, was arrested on Saturday.
He has also been charged with second-degree murder.
Chen, now 30, is still wanted for second-degree murder and has yet to be located.
