The Boston Bruins suffered a 3-1 road loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday in a disappointing performance.

Boston led 1-0 after the second period, as Casey Mittelstadt scored midway through the second. Entering the third period, the Bruins fell flat-footed as Tampa Bay scored just 2:13 into the period, before Darren Raddysh scored with just over five minutes to go. The Lightning added an empty-netter to secure the win, which was a disappointing loss for the Bruins.

"I didn't like the first few minutes,” Sturm said as seen on NESN’s postgame coverage on Saturday about the loss. “We gave up two odd-man rushes. ... We played a pretty good game, we really did.

“A couple of bad bounces. We didn't get the puck in on the second one and all of sudden a good team like that, they take advantage.”

In the loss, the Bruins also went 0-for-4 on the power play and Sturm knows that’s the difference between winning and losing hockey games.

"We had a few chances, even in the first, but I also thought the power play needed to step up,” Sturm said. “It didn't really give us a whole lot of grade-A chances.

“We were fine, though. We were still good enough today. But those little details, they matter, and those details have been hurting us for two games in a row."

With the loss, Boston fell to 43-26-8 and remains in the top wild card spot. The Bruins will return to the ice on Sunday on the road against the Philadelphia Flyers.
