Acosta has long dreamed of riding alongside Marquez, and it now appears that dream is only a year away from being realised.

Many feel that Acosta is hitting his stride at just the right time, with his performances over the last two seasons suggesting he’s entering his prime. The timing of a potential switch to Ducati seems ideal.

Acosta’s progress hasn’t gone unnoticed. Recently, Jonathan Rea weighed in with his own perspective on the rising KTM star.

Jonathan Rea claims Pedro Acosta already looks the part of a future Ducati rider

Speaking with GPOne, Jonathan Rea didn’t hold back in his praise for Pedro Acosta, describing him as “incredible” and saying he already looks like a future Ducati rider.

Rea highlighted Acosta’s talent and competitiveness, pointing out that he fits right in with the new generation coming through. He also spoke about how the sport is changing and how young riders like Acosta are leading that shift.

“He is an incredible talent, one of those who belong in the new generation. It will be interesting to see how he grows in the coming years. He has always been very competitive, and I like his approach from the lower categories.

“I see a super-talented driver in him, and I think we’ll see him grow even further. He already looks like a Ducati rider for the next few years, and so, there is a lot of curiosity. He and Marc like Senna and Prost? I don’t know. If that is the case, it would be fascinating.”

Acosta’s move to Ducati is expected soon, which could be the perfect platform for him to prove himself among MotoGP’s elite. It’s one thing to stand out as a rising star; it’s another to meet those expectations at a club like Ducati.

Pedro Acosta can’t afford to let Ducati’s move distract him from KTM’s final season

While the talk about Acosta joining Ducati has been persistent, nothing has been confirmed yet about whether he’ll be teaming up with Marc Marquez next season.

Acosta speaking openly about his future hasn’t sat well with everyone, with some feeling he’s not fully focused on KTM and might be overlooking their needs.

Overall, though, Acosta has performed well for KTM this season. He consistently outshines Brad Binder and remains their best hope for points most weekends.

The Spaniard is on the verge of linking up with Marquez at Ducati in 2027. But until then, he still has business to handle this year in a KTM seat. Even though he’s got one eye on the future, you can tell he wants to finish strong in his final campaign with them.

KTM will need all hands on deck if they want to compete for a title. And as a primary rider for the team, it is on him to deliver in crucial moments like these, especially if he wants to have momentum heading into next year.
