Atlanta Braves' Ronald Acuna Jr. Gets Update After Injury Scare

· Yahoo Sports

The Atlanta Braves defeated the Washington Nationals by a final score of 9-4 on Monday. However, all of the attention was on Ronald Acuna Jr. after the win, as the star outfielder exited the game with an apparent injury after getting hit by a pitch. The Braves later announced that the X-rays on Acura's hand were negative and that he is day-to-day.

Acuna was 0-1 before leaving the contest. He has dealt with injury concerns in the past, so the Braves are surely thrilled to hear that his X-rays were negative. Nevertheless, Atlanta is going to closely monitor the situation.

Mark Bowman reported that the "sense" is that Acuna could play on Tuesday. Things can change of course, but the fact that Acuna is seemingly a candidate to play just a day after the hit-by-pitch is encouraging to say the least.

It also would not be surprising to see Atlanta give him a day off. Either way, it seems as if the injury concern is not too serious.

Braves Earn Victory Despite Ronald Acuna Jr. Injury Scare

The Braves improved to 16-7 with the win on Monday night. Atlanta continues to lead the National League East.

Pitching continues to be the surprise for the ball club. After all of the injury concerns the Braves dealt with before the season, the fact that the pitching has found success is impressive.

Bryce Elder received the start against the Nationals. He was not at the top of his game, but Elder still managed to turn in 6.2 innings while allowing four runs (three earned). Elder added six strikeouts in an overall respectable outing.

The bullpen did not allow any runs after Elder's departure from the contest.

Drake Baldwin continued to swing the bat well, recording two hits and two RBIs. Matt Olson hit a home run and had three RBIs overall.

The offense ultimately had a total of eight hits in addition to their nine runs.

The Braves have now earned six consecutive victories. Atlanta is playing a quality brand of baseball so far this season.

On Tuesday, the Braves and Nationals will go head-to-head once again in Washington. Reynaldo Lopez (1-0, 2.18 ERA) will get the start for Atlanta. Meanwhile, Foster Griffin (2-0, 3.05 ERA) will start the contest for the Nationals.

First pitch is scheduled for 6:45 PM EST as the Braves look to keep their winning streak going.
