Central Railway RPF Team foils dacoity attempt in Siddeshwar Express- 9 women arrested

The Central Railway Railway Protection Force (RPF) team foiled a dacoity attempt in the Siddeshwar Express on April 22 and arrested nine women suspects for the offence.
On April 22, Shivaji Munde, Head Constable of the Crime Prevention and Detection Squad (CPDS) team on duty at Kurduwadi station, observed three women moving in a suspicious manner. These women were questioned about their whereabouts and let off with a warning to leave the station. However, the women were observed boarding the Latur Express, and consequently, the Solapur team was informed to initiate a high alert across the section.

The suspects detrained at Jeur station, where they boarded the Siddeshwar Express with intent to commit dacoity. The RPF team kept the suspects under continuous surveillance with the help of photographs and passenger information while coordinating with the escorting team of the Siddeshwar Express, comprising Head Constable Harmendra Prasad Meena and Constable Brajesh Yadav.
A team of RPF personnel, including Lady Constable Sonam Pathan, was ready at Solapur station, where all nine suspects were taken into custody. The suspects, in the age group of 18 to 40 years, belonged to Dharashiv district.
The suspects were handed over to the Government Railway Police (GRP) in Kurduwadi, and a case was registered under Section 310(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023 for preparation for dacoity. The investigation is under process, which includes a review of the suspects' prior criminal records. Relevant information regarding the gang has been shared with the Pune division, as they are known to operate in both Solapur and Pune divisions.
Central Railway commended the coordinated efforts of the RPF for enhancing passenger safety and security in the region. Passengers are advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to railway authorities or dial 139 for assistance.
