Former Akron Zips cornerback Malcolm DeWalt IV will have a chance to live an NFL dream with the Atlanta Falcons.

On the heels of the 2026 NFL Draft wrapping up this past weekend, DeWalt struck a deal to join the Falcons as an undrafted free agent, his agency announced on social media.

DeWalt spent the past two seasons at Akron after transferring from Butte College. He graduated from Olympic High School in Bremerton, Washington.

DeWalt told the Kitsap Sun the Falcons, Browns, Green Bay Packers and Seattle Seahawks reached out to him after the draft. He then chose to unite with former Browns coach Kevin Stefanski, who's now at the helm of the Falcons.

As a redshirt senior, DeWalt played all 12 games with Akron in 2025 and compiled 58 tackles, with 2.5 for loss, two interceptions (one returned for a touchdown), eight pass breakups, one quarterback hit and a forced fumble.

As a junior in 2024, DeWalt played 11 games for Akron and tallied seven tackles, three pass breakups and a fumble recovery.

DeWalt was listed by the Zips as 6 feet, 2 inches and 190 pounds. He is listed as 6 feet, ½ inch and 197 pounds in the draft guide written by The Athletic's Dane Brugler.
