The 33-year-old couldn't put any weight on his right leg after trying to avoid a tag at first base while playing for the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday, April 28, against the Atlanta Braves at Truist Park.

A wild throw from shortstop Mauricio Dubón in the fifth inning caused Báez to try and sneak into first but his right foot got caught underneath his body on the awkward fall.

He needed cart to take him off the field.

Báez stayed on the ground for a few minutes after the play, with assistant athletic trainer Kelly Rhoades appearing to evaluate his knee.

First-base coach Anthony Sanders helped Báez get into the cart.
