Not much is clicking for the Los Angeles Angels. From what started as a promising beginning to the year has now turned into a period of urgent concern after a troubling week of baseball.

Coming off of a winless road trip, the Angels return home to take on a team facing a similar fate, the New York Mets — the only team with more losses than the Angels.

Below, you can find the team previews, including where to watch, game details, injury reports, and odds.

TEAM PREVIEWS:

Angels (12-20, 5th in AL West): The Angels come back home with hopes to right a difficult ship. They lost six straight games against a pair of struggling teams on the road, unable to string a victory against the Kansas City Royals and Chicago White Sox.

They will aim to bounce back against a Mets team that is off to a shockingly unsettling start. From one ballclub with deep struggles to another, the weekend series could be up for anyone’s

The offense has not too bad. Their biggest flaw has been the bullpen, but a rather large flaw — their bullpen has been historically flawed over the last week.

Over their last six games, in which they went winless on their road trip, the Angels bullpen combined to allow 25 earned runs over 21.1 innings, accumulating a 10.55 ERA in that span. In the same week they released closer Jordan Romano, the bullpen combined to blow four saves during the skid.

Roles among the bullpen are entirely up for grabs at the moment. Now with a combined bullpen ERA of 5.58, the second worst tally in the league, they can only hope for some recuperation at home.

Starting pitching also began to falter at a heavier rate over the weekend. The Angels suffered their first loss of the season in a José Soriano start. Yusei Kikuchi was pulled from Sunday’s game against the White Sox early on due to a potential injury.

Fortunately, the power numbers have not been lost among their offense. In Sunday’s series finale, Mike Trout launched his 10th homer of the season. Vaughn Grissom hit his first homer of the season the same day, continuing his strong start to the year despite a small sample size.

Mets (10-21, 5th in NL East): To a surprise to a majority of the baseball world, the Mets currently own the worst record in baseball as they enter May. They are coming off a homestand in which they went 3-6 against three teams under .500.

Unlike the Angels, the Mets have struggled in just about every facet of the game. Starting pitching has stood out as the lone spot of the team with minimized struggles, but still faces question marks as Kodai Senga has been horrid to start the year.

Top to bottom and minus the likes of Juan Soto, the Mets’ batting order has been unable to string anything together as a unit. Two offseason additions, Luis Robert Jr. and Jorge Polanco, were recently placed on the injury list shortly after minimal production. Bo Bichette, their biggest offseason addition, has not looked like the same hitter since donning the Mets jersey. After a very slow start, Francisco Lindor is also injured.

Lackluster leadership has even been a topic of discussion. After trickles of speculation following the firings of Red Sox manager Alex Cora and Phillies skipper Rob Thomson, general manager David Stearns confirmed today that the Mets have no intentions of dismissing manager Carlos Mendoza.

As they aim to right the ship in some shape or form on their road trip, they will rely on righties Nolan McLean and Clay Holmes on Saturday and Sunday. Both arms have been a small bright spot on a team with minimal.
