MIAMI – Yoel Romero is still doing Yoel Romero things.

At 49 years of age, "The Soldier of God" has notched another vicious finish, this stopping fellow UFC vet Alex Nicholson in the main event of Gamebred Bareknuckle MMA – which took place on Friday night at Unrivaled Arena. Romero took down Nicholson after a few exchanges and blasted him with a few shots that broke Nicholson's jaw and caused him to tap due to strikes.

This is Romero's second fight of the year, and third competition in combat sports. Romero fought in bareknuckle boxing in March, coming up short in a controversial decision loss to Vagab Vagabov in the main event of IBA Bare Knuckle 4 in St. Petersburg, Russia. He also competed in wrestling under the RAF banner. He lost to Stephen Buchanan via tech fall.

Romero, a combat sports veteran, is mainly known for his decorated wrestling background and successful run in the UFC. He won numerous medals at international tournaments, including a silver medal at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, and fought in the UFC from 2013 to 2020. He challenged for the UFC middleweight title in 2020, coming up short in a unanimous decision to Israel Adesanya.
