The 2026 WNBA season is finally here, with a marquee slate of opening day games taking place on Friday night, one in particular that fans of the Oregon Ducks will certainly want to tune into.

The offseason in "The W" was dominated by free-agent news out of New York, where the Liberty announced they had signed former WNBA All-Star and Oregon star Satou Sabally. This reunites Sabally with Oregon legend Sabrina Ionescu in the Big Apple, pairing them together for the first time since they played in Eugene last in 2020, when their season was cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ionescu and Sabally will start their WNBA run together on Friday night in the first game of the season, taking on the Connecticut Sun at 4:30 p.m. PT. The game will be aired on the ION Network.

Sabally and Ionescu are just two of many former Ducks getting set to play in the WNBA this season. Here is a full list of players on league rosters who, at one time or another, spent time in Eugene:

  • Angela Dugalic — Washington Mystics
  • Chance Gray — Los Angeles Sparks
  • Sabrina Ionescu — New York Liberty
  • Te-Hina Paopao — Atlanta Dream
  • Nyara Sabally — Toronto Tempo
  • Satou Sabally — New York Liberty
  • Grace Van Slooten — Seattle Storm

The Mystics and Tempo also face off on Friday night, followed by the Storm and the Golden State Valkyries.

Saturday's action kicks off with arguably the biggest game of the weekend — the Indiana Fever vs. the Dallas Wings — pitting the last three No. 1 overall picks against each other: Caitlin Clark vs. Paige Bueckers and Azi Fudd. That game will tip off at 10 a.m. PT and be aired on ABC.
