The New England Patriots are counting down the days until June 1, when they can finally finalize a trade for wide receiver A.J. Brown from the Philadelphia Eagles.

New England is widely expected to trade for Brown this summer, which will shake up the team's receicer room and give quarterback Drake Maye a dynamic No. 1 pass-catcher.

With Brown likely to be a Patriot in just a few weeks, many are wondering what the future looks like for Kayshon Boutte, who could be the odd man out in New England's receiver group if or when the Brown trade is finalized.

Albert Breer believes Boutte is available for a fifth or sixth-round pick

In a recent article, Sports Illustrated's NFL insider Albert Breer said he believes Boutte is available for trade, and a fifth or sixth-round selection would get a deal done with the Patriots.

"Patriots WR Kayshon Boutte, I think, could be had for a fifth- or sixth-round draft pick right now, if anyone has an interest in him," Breer wrote.

Boutte's value has never been higher. After struggling to find his footing during his rookie campaign in 2023, the LSU product tallied a career high 589 yards in 2024, and followed that up with a career high six touchdowns in 2025.

If New England decides to deal Boutte, he should garner interest from many teams on the open market.

Giants and Bears should have interest in Boutte

As for teams that could trade for Boutte, the New York Giants and Chicago Bears come to mind.

New York doesn't have a pressing need at receiver, but adding another deep threat for quarterback Jaxson Dart would take the Giants' offense to new heights. Boutte tallied all six of his touchdowns last season from 20 yards or more, and didn't drop a single pass from that distance either.

Boutte could beat out Darius Slayton and Darnell Mooney for the No. 2 receiver spot and form an electric duo with Malik Nabers.

Chicago is banking on Rome Odunze and Luther Burden III to break out in 2026 and become reliable receiving options for quarterback Caleb Williams with D.J. Moore's departure to the Buffalo Bills via trade.

However, Bears general manager Ryan Poles should look to acquire another receiver to ensure the passing attack has success this year. Boutte would produce fireworks in Ben Johnson's offense and form a lethal wide receiver trio with Odunze and Burden.

Overall, Boutte is still an ascending player and would be a fantastic pre-regular-season addition for either the Giants or the Bears. There's still a world where the Patriots hold on to the 24-year-old to pair with Romeo Doubs and obviously, Brown if they can complete the trade with Philadelphia.

But a fresh start also won't be a bad outcome for Boutte, who has the potential to be a legitimate difference-making wide receiver.
