Report: Brendan Rodgers eyes move for want away Chelsea ace

Filip Jorgensen has emerged as a target for Saudi Pro League club Al-Qadsiah who are managed by former Chelsea coach Brendan Rodgers according to reports.

The Blues signed Jorgensen in the summer of 2024 from Spanish side Villarreal in a deal said to be worth £20.9m.

The Denmark international has had a difficult time at Stamford Bridge, and for the majority of the last two seasons has played second fiddle to Robert Sanchez.

Al-Qadsiah interested in Filip Jorgensen

Jorgensen has made 36 appearances for Chelsea in two seasons, and made a high profile error against PSG in Champions League earlier this year.

A groin injury then ruled him out for a number of weeks, but Jorgensen has now communicated his desire to leave Chelsea.

Give Me Sport have reported Saudi side Al-Qadsiah have been credited with interest, and have looked at a number of high profile keepers.

The report adds Porto, Genoa and Besiktas all explored a January move, but nothing materialised due to Chelsea’s reluctance to let Jorgensen go.

With the Denmark international heading to the exit door, it’s been reported youngster Mike Penders will take his place in the squad after a successful season on loan at Strasbourg.

The Blues reportedly view Penders as their long term number one, but it’s a major step up for the 20-year-old and it’ll be interesting to see how he copes.
