Former Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Cedric Kaze has addressed claims of a potential rift between him and ex-Amakhosi mentor Nasreddine Nabi.

Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef took over from Nabi as co-coaches after the Tunisian tactician was sacked.
It was Nabi who brought in the two coaches as his assistants when he took over at Chiefs.
After leaving Amakhosi for a few weeks to attend to his sick wife, Ben Youssef and Kaze started the 2025/26 season with three consecutive wins but results changed upon Nabi’s return.
He was subsequently fired ,with his assistants taking over. It was then speculated that the duo might have played a hand in getting Nabi fired by the Kaizer Chiefs management.
Caze denied the claims, but admitted that he hasn’t spoken to Nabi since last year.
“You know, in those kinds of situations when the head coach is removed, there are always things that happen, and when they choose the assistant coaches to take over, most of the time people think there’s something behind it, that’s how the relationship gets, as you said ‘strained’,” Kaze told Robert Marawa on 947.
Kaze says he is in good terms with ex-Chiefs coach Nabi
Nabi has not spoken up on why he left Chiefs but in February, after Amakhosi lost to Orlando Pirates, the 61-year-old coach posted a cryptic message directed at Kaze and Ben Youssef.
Kaze insists there is no bad blood between him and former Chiefs coach.
“It’s unfortunate that situation happened, me and I have always been in good terms, we haven’t spoken since that time, but he’s someone I can call any time, and I’m pretty sure that he can call me anytime. It’s true, those phone calls have not happened since he left.”
