Martella’s Pharmacy 9, Infinity Practical Solutions 6: Cainen Atherton swatted a home run and drove in three runs as Martella’s Pharmacy opened the season with a win at Sargent’s Stadium at the Point.
Ben Ryan also chased in three runs, while Grayden Gillott plated two runs. Atherton and Gillott each scored two runs for Martella’s Pharmacy, which knotted the game at 6-all in the fourth with a four-run frame.
Mason Pfeil tossed the final five innings, fanning six batters to notch the win on the mound.
Zane Hagans’ two RBIs led the way for Infinity Practical Solutions, which saw its six runs come in the third inning.

Class 3A First Round
South Park 6, Bedford 3: In Bedford, the Eagles broke away late with two runs in the sixth and another one in the seventh as the visitors beat the Bisons.
Cooper Hochendoner went 3-for-4 with a double, a homer and three RBIs. Robert Lenzi struck out 10 batters and allowed three unearned runs in six innings.
District 7 runner-up South Park (16-6) outhit Bedford 8-4. The Eagles scored twice in the first inning, and added one in the second.
District 5-8-9 champ Bedford (8-15) tallied all three of its runs in the fifth. South Park made two errors.
The Bisons received singles from Blake Cragan, Carter Frederick, Gabe Taylor and Jonah Topper. Cragan, Frederick and Gaston Watkins each scored. Bedford struck out 11 times as a team.
Bedford's Aspen Anderson pitched 5 1/3 innings, striking out four and allowing three earned runs. Zach Eichelberger went the final 1 2/3 frames, permitting three walks and three runs (two earned).
South Park will play District 6 champ Tyrone, a 5-3 winner over Avonworth, Thursday in the quarterfinals.

Class 3A First Round
Susquenita 4, Bedford 1: In Duncannon, the host Blackhawks scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth and added another one in the sixth to dispatch the Bisons.
District 3 champion Susquenita (24-1) has won 21 games in a row. The Blackhawks scored a run in the second inning against Bedford senior right-hander Emma Byers.
District 5-6 runner-up Bedford (20-3) answered with a tally in the third. The Bisons made three errors in the field.
Susquenita outhit Bedford 7-5. Lara Bulger, Rebekah Costal, Brielle Hartman, Sammi Shoemaker and Zoie Ulanowicz each provided a hit for the Bisons. Bailey Mickle drove in a run, and Hartman doubled. Byers walked two and fanned five batters in six innings, allowing two earned runs.
Kylah Fleisher struck out four in a complete-game victory. Fleisher doubled and drove in a run at the plate. Braelyn Prinz provided two hits and a stolen base. Kaydon Brandt, Leah Conroy and Prinz each plated a run.
The Bisons advanced to the PIAA tournament for the first time since 1997.
After starting 17-0, Bedford scored two combined runs in its three losses at the end of the season.
Susquenita will play Sharon, a 4-0 winner over Mount Pleasant, in the quarterfinals Thursday. Sharon junior right-hander Maddy Vogan, a Penn State commit, hit the first batter of the game and then retired 21 straight batters, 16 via strikeouts.
