How Hard is Road Trip Seattle Mariners Have Just Started?
· Yahoo Sports
The Seattle Mariners kicked off their 10-game East Coast road trip with a 7-3 loss against the Detroit Tigers on Friday night at Comerica Park.
With the loss, the M's are now 33-31, but they remain 1.5 games ahead of the Texas Rangers in the American League West.

While two of the three opponents on this road trip (Tigers, Orioles) are under .500 and the other (Nationals) is just even at 32-32, this figures to be a difficult trip for the M's. There are no off days, which will test the M's shorthanded bullpen, there are multiple day games in hot weather, which will test the players resolve, and the travel itself is difficult.
We caught up with former Mariners infielder and current Mariners broadcaster Ryon Healy on the most recent edition of the 'Refuse to Lose Territory' podcast to get his perspective on how difficult a trip like this is.
Seattle Mariners designated hitter Randy Arozarena (56) hits a single against the Athletics in the fifth inning at Sutter Health Park. Cary Edmondson-Imagn Images"Very. They do have an off day on the front and the back end of this road trip, which would be really helpful. And once you get to the East Coast, like this first swing will be the toughest.
Obviously, Detroit, they'd have back-to-back day games, I believe, on Saturday and Sunday, which could be helpful. It could also be a little hurtful for not being able to sleep in as late to recalibrate your clock.
So that'll be a tough one, a little bit. And to your point, Brady, I just got done doing a homestand, a weeks worth of games with minimal travel, West Coast focus, and I'm home today and I'm exhausted... But I feel like I'm half a human right here, and I don't have to go play a Major League Baseball game tonight.
So yes, it's a lot, and these guys are well prepared for it. But talking to Mets players, they came from New York to Seattle, Sunday day game to Monday night game. And I saw a lot of those guys, talking pregame with them, and they were all exhausted.
They're like, "Dude, my internal clock is three hours ahead right now. It feels like it's 7:30 right now, and it's not even BP time. I don't know what we're gonna do."
The Mariners and Tigers will play again on Saturday morning with first pitch coming at 10:10 a.m. PT.
