Cleveland Browns trade rumors centered on star edge rusher Myles Garrett took a shocking turn on June 1.

The Browns received an offer they liked from the Los Angeles Rams, and in the blink of an eye, Garrett went from being an unlikely trade candidate to the Rams’ newest defensive star. For clarity, the Rams sent Jared Verse, a 2027 first-round pick, a 2028 second-round pick, and a 2029 third-round pick to the Browns for Garrett.

According to a recent rumor from NFL insider Jason L. Canfora, Garrett may not be the only Brown to be a part of a blockbuster deal. Cleveland’s standout cornerback Denzel Ward could become a trade candidate during the 2026-27 season.

“Do I think Ward goes, too? Yeah, I do,” one general manager told Canfora Monday. "Ward turned 29 in April and would hold real value for a contender around midseason if he maintains his level of performance.”

“It’s hard to imagine the Browns being in anything other than a position to continue adding draft picks, and a team could essentially rent him for 1 ½ seasons at an average salary of $17 million a season, a steal for a player of his caliber. And the Browns will have paid $8 million in salary by the deadline as well.”

“The contract is clean and doesn’t carry any awkward future options, roster bonuses, or guarantees. A contending team that acquires him could sweeten the pot with some incentives as well to help facilitate the transition, the GM noted.”

If Ward becomes available midway through the upcoming NFL campaign, the Dallas Cowboys and Chicago Bears should hold interest in the five-time Pro Bowler.

Daron Bland isn’t a bad option for the Cowboys to have as their top CB option. Still, the franchise’s 2025-26 coverage woes suggest it should make another move to avoid being exposed again in 2026-27 (they allowed 251.5 passing yards per game and recorded only six interceptions).

Likewise, while the Bears posted 23 interceptions last year, their 227.2 yards and 24.3 points allowed per game suggest they could use some reinforcements on that side of the ball.

Adding Ward, who’s known for his ball-hawking chops (he’s finished with one interception in each of his first eight seasons) and dependable man coverage skills (he’s only two years removed from a season in which he led the NFL in forced incompletions) would do wonders for both NFC franchises.

It would be shocking if the former first-round pick didn’t have several suitors interested in trading for him in the upcoming months.
