Knicks analyst Monica McNutt has apologized to Taylor Swift and her fans after calling the superstar out on a hot mic.
Speaking to TMZ Sports, McNutt said she stands by what she said but understands Swift is a legitimate Knicks fan.

“Swifties, I appreciate your passion. I said what I said. And here’s the deal, if I’m wrong — I am wrong, apparently — because she’s got an OG Amar’e Stoudemire jersey. ... I misspoke. I did not know, but here’s the deal. Context: I literally just did a piece on celebrity row. I’ve been with the organization for five years. I know these folks. Ben Stiller. His wife, Christine (Taylor). Spike Lee. All of them. Fat Joe. I had not seen her here this year or last year, and we just saw her in Cleveland with her fiancee (Travis Kelce). Obviously, Travis supports the Cavs. She didn’t have any Knicks paraphernalia, so I did not know of her Knicks loyalty. But shoutout, T-Swift. We can be united in orange and blue, like, it’s fine.”
McNutt is doing radio for ABC/ESPN with partner Tyler Murray. She was heard on a hot mic discussing Swift’s appearance for the Knicks’ epic 107-106 come-from-behind victory over the San Antonio Spurs to take a 3-1 series lead.
“Is that Taylor Swift down there?” McNutt asked Murray, who said he thought someone else was “saying her name to distract” him.
McNutt then explained that the woman with the “long ponytail” was, in fact, Swift “in the blue.”
Murray then used his phone to try to get a photo of Swift, which he said was for his wife.
“She’s not a Knicks fan. Get out of here girl!” McNutt said in the video footage, which made the rounds on social media.
Swift, in fact, appears to be a longtime Knicks fan although she and fiancee Travis Kelce attended a Knicks-Cavaliers game in the Eastern Conference Finals and rooted on Cleveland.
Needless to say, McNutt took some heat on the socials for her comments.
“Hey, @McNuttMonica 👋 You’re running the @NBA and kicking people out of games now? Who do you think has made more money for your employer @espn @Disney … you or @taylorswift?” one person asked, tagging McNutt.
“Monica McNutt can’t tell a Barry Sanders and Shedeur Sanders jersey apart, and she falsely claims that Taylor Swift is not a New York Knicks fan. ESPN’s finest,” another person wrote.
A third added: “@Disney @espn Maybe your employee needs some training on how to be professional,” and “She gotta get her facts straight because Taylor Swift has attended Knicks games for a long time.”
