It’s officially official. Giovanni Carnevali has been appointed as the new CEO and General Manager of Juventus, with the club confirming the move today. The announcement comes less than 24 hours after reports of Damien Comolli’s impending departure began surfacing across the Italian sports media landscape, making this one of the quicker front office turnarounds you’ll see at a club of this size.

Damien Comolli has concluded his tenure with the club by mutual agreement, bringing an end to a stint that began when he was hired as General Manager in June 2025 before being promoted to CEO in November of that same year. The change comes on the back of a difficult season that included reported friction between Comolli and manager Luciano Spalletti, with the relationship between the two said to have become increasingly strained as the campaign wore on.

The backdrop to all of this is a challenging summer ahead for whoever is running the club’s sporting operations. Juventus’ failure to qualify for the Champions League means a significant loss of revenue compared to what the club would have expected, which figures to make an already complicated transfer window even more so. Carnevali steps into that environment from day one.

He does so with a strong reputation built over many years at Sassuolo, where he played a central role in developing the club into a widely recognized model for sustainability, talent development, and value creation. He also served as a Board Member of Lega Serie A, contributing to strategic discussions around the development of Italian professional football more broadly. Juventus, in their official announcement, described him as “one of the most respected executives in the sports industry.”

“I am proud and honoured to join a Club with such a rich history and strong identity,” Carnevali said in the statement. “I approach this new challenge with a strong sense of responsibility and with the conviction that, through daily commitment, it is possible to build a sustainable path of growth and a successful future.”
