Highly touted Puerto Rican Wisconsin volleyball recruit reclassifies

An announcement on June 12 made things extremely interesting for the Wisconsin Badgers' 2026-27 volleyball season.

Decelise Champion, who was set to join the team for the 2027-28 season, was able to reclassify and will now be heading to Madison for the upcoming season.

Badgers volleyball remains one of the staples of the university. The 2021 National Champions and nine time conference champions continue to leave their mark on the world of volleyball with this being their latest big move.

The Puerto Rican outside hitter stands 6-foot-6 and has plenty of MVP awards attached to her name. Most notably, she was named MVP and/or Best Attacker at the Buzzer Beater Championship, AAU National Championship, Trofeo Bussinelo, Finali Nazionali, and Finali Regionali di Lazio. Those awards span from 2023-2026.

Head coach Kelly Sheffield announced Champion will officially be joining the team in September after she represents Puerto Rico in an Olympic Qualifier event.
