Karl-Anthony Towns had the NBA trophy in his hands, Jordyn Woods by his side, and still made time to credit the Knicks’ strangest good-luck charm.

After New York beat the San Antonio Spurs 94-90 in Game 5 to win its first championship since 1973, the celebration quickly turned personal for Towns and Woods.

Karl-Anthony Towns praises Jordyn Woods’ lucky Knicks bag

As espnW shared, Towns gave the accessory its championship moment by saying: “The bag is undefeated!”

The clip showed Towns celebrating with the trophy while Woods stood beside him wearing the orange bag that fans had already turned into a Finals superstition.

The joke was simple: when the bag showed up, the Knicks won. Woods had brought it to Finals games during New York’s run, and the accessory became an unlikely character in the team’s push toward the title.

One fan said, “Talm bout Lucky Bag.”

Another added, “She actually didn’t have it in game 3.”

A third said, “JW bag supremacy.”

Another one added, “The bag’s winning streak is actually unreal.”

By the end of the series, the bag was not just a fashion detail. It was a running joke, a fan theory, and, after the final buzzer, apparently a championship-certified lucky charm.

Towns leaning into it made the moment even better.

Knicks win NBA title as Towns and Woods celebrate

The game itself gave New York plenty to celebrate before the bag even entered the conversation.

The Knicks trailed by 16 in the first half and were still down 42-37 at halftime, but Jalen Brunson delivered a defining performance.

Brunson scored 45 points, including huge fourth-quarter baskets, as New York closed out the Spurs 94-90 at Frost Bank Center and won the Finals 4-1.

Josh Hart added 13 points and 11 rebounds, Mikal Bridges scored 14, and the Knicks survived Victor Wembanyama’s 19 points, 14 rebounds, and five blocks.

Towns dealt with foul trouble and did not have his cleanest scoring night, but he still ended it as an NBA champion, celebrating with Woods after a season that changed his career.

For Knicks fans, Brunson was the Finals hero. But somewhere in the mythology of this 53-year wait, Woods’ orange bag now has its own banner-worthy place.
