Cameron Jordan: 2026 will be 'one final season' in storied Saints career

· Yahoo Sports

From the beginning of the New Orleans Saints franchise to the current day, there have been plenty of names who have earned the right to be regarded as franchise legends. One of those names who has continued to prove his allegiance to the city is long-time Saints defensive end Cameron Jordan, who, entering the 2026 offseason, had decisions to make.

Would he return to New Orleans on a new contract, with his previous one having expired? Or would he pursue another opportunity, either for a longer contract or a higher likelihood at a potential Super Bowl run? A decision that he has weighed heavily for multiple months now, and with the Saints defensive line unit certainly needing his production, it always seemed like it was a viable option for him to return.

That question got answered recently, as Jordan signed a new one-year contract with the Saints, giving him a chance to approach or break into the top 10 all-time career sack leaders.

He also went on to post a video alongside this announcement, showing both his and his father's career highlights for their respective franchises, and noting this as “one final season”, likely anticipating his retirement upon the conclusion of the upcoming season. The video Jordan posted can be found here, and as he enters what could be his sunset season, it could end up being one of the most important of his illustrious career.

After a promising first season under new head coach Kellen Moore and quarterback Tyler Shough, Jordan may just get one more shot at the playoffs as the 2026 season comes around.
