KAIZER CHIEFS LEGEND SIBONISO GAXA APPROVED

His performances did not go unnoticed. Amakhosi legend Gaxa publicly urged the club to make Mahlambi their priority signing, describing the youngster as a player capable of transforming the club’s attack in the 2026/27 Betway Premiership season.

Speaking on the Apex International Podcast before the end of the season, Gaxa made his admiration clear.

“Get players, I mean the boy from TS Galaxy, Seluleko Mahlambi. Get him, that is my first signing,” Gaxa said.

He praised the winger’s work ethic, creativity and unpredictability, adding that Mahlambi “is like a dancer when he is playing” and possesses the rare ability to beat defenders on either side while continuing to work tirelessly off the ball.

According to Gaxa, the youngster has all the qualities needed to thrive at Naturena and become a focal point in Kaizer Chiefs’ attacking play.

BREAKTHROUGH SEASON SHOWS HIS POTENTIAL

Mahlambi’s rise has been built on resilience. He developed under his father at Louwsburg Aces before spending time in the youth structures of AmaZulu and Cape Town City. After several setbacks, he joined TS Galaxy’s development system and earned promotion through the DStv Diski Challenge.

A FIFA-imposed transfer ban forced Galaxy to rely heavily on academy graduates during the 2025/26 campaign, and Mahlambi seized the opportunity with both hands. He became a regular starter, helping drive the club’s attack while also contributing to their impressive run to the Nedbank Cup final.

Despite inevitable comparisons with his older brother, former PSL star Phakamani Mahlambi, Seluleko has carved out his own identity through his performances.

For Kaizer Chiefs, the appeal is obvious. Mahlambi combines youth with proven Betway Premiership production, offers goals and assists from wide areas and still has significant room for growth.

Alongside Glody Lilepo, Pule Mmmodi, Asanele Velebayi and Mfundo Vilakazi, he could provide exactly the competition and attacking spark Amakhosi have been searching for on the flanks.
