Gazzetto dello Sport said that Ronaldinho is to sign a contract but it remains to be seen whether he will actually play again, with more clarity expected at an event in Miami on Tuesday.

"I can't wait to dance with the ball again and write a new story with Ignazio and the whole Cipriani family," Ronaldinho was quoted as saying, referring to club owner Ignazio Cipriani, a businessman and hotel chain owner.

Ravenna vice-president Ariedo Braida told the ANSA news agency: "Will he play? We will see but it can't be ruled out. He is a champion, he knows no age."

Ronaldinho is a twice World Footballer of the Year who won the World Cup with Brazil in 2002, the Champions League with Barcelona four years later and the 2013 Copa Libertadores with Atletico Mineiro.

He played his last professional match in 2015 for Rio de Janeiro club Fluminense and officially ended his career in 2017 after two stints in India's Premier Futsal League.
