Secret Weapon? Max Holloway Enlists JDM As UFC 329 Sparring Partner | Video
· Yahoo Sports
Max Holloway is leaving no stone unturned for his long-awaited rematch with Conor McGregor at UFC 329 next month for International Fight Week. This includes bringing former UFC welterweight champion Jack Della Maddalena into camp to help mimic McGregor’s standup.
As you know, McGregor is returning to action for the first time in five years. The UFC superstar has been sidelined since injuring his leg against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 back in July 2021. “Notorious” has been lining up his comeback ever since and it finally goes down on July 11 from Las Vegas, Nevada. It’s expected to be one of the promotion’s biggest events of 2026.

Holloway, who is coming off a disappointing “BMF” title loss to Charles Oliveira his last time out, was not the first name that popped up when McGregor announced his return, but matchmakers ultimately settled on “Blessed.” It makes sense not only because Holloway is a standup fighter who will give McGregor opportunities on the feet to land his heralded power, but also because the two fighters have history. Remember, McGregor defeated Holloway via unanimous decision in a featherweight matchup all the way back in 2013.
While McGregor hasn’t fought in five years he remains the promotion’s biggest star. This only means good things for Holloway as he’ll have more eyes on this fight than ever before. This has motivated Holloway to train to the best of ability, which includes bringing in JDM to show him different looks in sparring. It’s unknown at this time if JDM can completely mimic McGregor and really help give Holloway an advantage for their rematch, but it’s worth a shot.
