Rookie Zachariah Branch among 3 NFC South breakout fantasy candidates

· Yahoo Sports

The Saints, Panthers, Buccaneers, and Falcons have a combined 12 players inside the top 100 overall ADP. These guys are, of course, must-draft options. But who are some under-the-radar breakout candidates?

Xavier Legette has one of the lowest floors of any recent second-round NFL draft pick. He also has a high ceiling, even on a run-friendly team with a clear-cut #1 WR in Tetairoa McMillan. Legette has stumbled and flashed in his first two seasons. The fantasy market is focusing almost exclusively on the former, handing him a WR128 / overall-335 ADP, placing him behind Carolina’s #5 WR (John Metchie) and at least 50 other bench players. If he shows well this preseason, it might signal a coming breakout.

The Falcons are in a slightly different boat, equipped with an elite backfield and a near-elite #WR, along with a boom-bust tight end. Who will be their #2 wideout? Third-round rookie Zachariah Branch needs to outplay Jahan Dotson and Olamide Zaccheaus. His WR75 / overall-197 ADP assumes it’s possible. I think it’s probable that setting up Branch for a surprisingly productive season.

Meanwhile, teammates Tua Tagovailoa (QB31 / overall-196 ADP) and Michael Penix (QB33 / overall 223 ADP) are competing for the starting quarterback job. Neither has looked “great” these past two seasons. But they have the surrounding personnel to exceed expectations comfortably. Whoever wins the job in camp will be an instant breakout candidate.
