Auburn basketball poised to stash NBA draft pick, signee Narcisse Ngoy

· Yahoo Sports

Narcisse Ngoy, the Auburn basketball player, appears to still be happening despite the Frenchman's selection at 59th overall by the Los Angeles Clippers, via Atlanta, in the second round of the 2026 NBA Draft on Wednesday, June 24.

Ngoy, who signed with Auburn at the end of March, was a decorated international signee. He averaged 10.8 points per game in the French Elite 2 League last year, and he led the league in rebounds per game (11.5) and blocks per game (2.5) while shooting 70% from the floor.

The selection isn't believed to be one that takes a player from Auburn's roster next season however. It's been widely reported as a "draft and stash."

While not commonly used on college signees, it's a tactic often deployed by franchises on international prospects, drafting a player's rights while letting them develop elsewhere. Auburn itself has yet to announce or confirm that Ngoy will be with the program this coming season, but it's already been reportedly he'll play on the Plains.

Even ESPN analyst Fran Fraschilla alluded to it on the network's draft coverage.

"The most-disappointed staff is the Auburn staff," he said. "They thought they might've had a steal. Not ready for the league just yet, but a good guy to just have in your program. We call this draft and stash."
