Point guard Bennett Stirtz was a first-round pick, going to the Memphis Grizzlieswith the No. 16 overall pick. Memphis then traded his draft rights to the Oklahoma City Thunder, where he'll join a few other former Hawkeyes. One of Stirtz's teammates from last season is hoping to join him and prove he belongs in the NBA.
On Thursday, news broke that sharpshooter Brendan Hausen has agreed to a Summer League deal with the Grizzlies.

Hausen played in 21 games for the Hawkeyes last season, his first in Iowa City after three years at Kansas State. He averaged 4.0 points per game, shooting 32.8% from 3-point range. He struggled to find a consistent role at Iowa after being a strong contributor for the Wildcats.
Across his collegiate career, he shot 38.3% from beyond the arc. That elite shooting is his biggest asset and the reason why the Grizzlies are giving him a shot. Shooting plays in the NBA. There's always a spot for a guy who can come in off the bench and knock down a few threes. Despite some limitations to his game, Hausen is capable of doing that at the next level.
Hausen will take the court for Summer League action next month, hoping to play his way into a two-way contract. The Grizzlies are in the middle of a rebuild, so Hausen could have a real shot to get that contract if he impresses in Summer League.
