NFL legend reveals real reason why Antonio Brown left Steelers
· Yahoo Sports
Antonio Brown remains one of the biggest what-ifs in Pittsburgh Steelers history, and one NFL legend has shared what he believes to be the real reason for the split between both sides.
According to two-time Super Bowl champion running back LeSean McCoy, Brown didn't actually want to leave Pittsburgh back in 2019, but that the Steelers actually told him he had to.

"This is what people don't know, because I had Drew Rosenhaus as my agent and he had Drew Rosenhaus as his agent," McCoy said via the Speakeasy podcast. "We've always been tight. He didn't want to leave Pittsburgh. That's the real truth. The real truth is that he loved Pittsburgh. He never wanted to leave Pittsburgh. He felt like they didn't truly value him.
"They gave [Steelers team MVP] to JuJu [Smith-Schuster], which sounds crazy when Antonio Brown is on your team. Then, your Hall-of-Fame caliber quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, who they've basically babied for years, even when he declined. AB, say what you want about him, he always was productive, he always was a hard worker. You know what I'm saying? All these things are going downhill for him, and now they ask him to leave? He was mad about that. So that's the truth. The truth is he was mad to leave Pittsburgh."
Brown last played for the Steelers during Week 16 of the 2018 season, missing Week 17 reportedly after a heated altercation with Roethlisberger. The Steelers traded him to the then-Oakland Raiders a few months later, in March 2019, and the rest was history. Well, except that he didn't suit up in a single game for the Raiders.
