The Pittsburgh Penguins added six prospects to the organization during the 2026 NHL Draft.

Pittsburgh selected Liam Ruck 22nd overall in the first round on Friday, who projects to be a top-six forward in the NHL. On Day 2 of the 2026 NHL Draft, which was Rounds 2-7, the Penguins selected five more players, including Liam’s twin brother, Markus.

Although the Penguins landed the Ruck twins, who were highly-sought after, The Athletic’s Corey Pronman gave Pittsburgh a C+ grade for the draft.

“Pittsburgh heavily targeted the WHL, landing Liam Ruck in the first and Markus Ruck in the second. The Ruck twins lack size and pace, but both are very skilled and intelligent. Taking Tomas Galvas later in the second round is another nice swing on a highly mobile puck-moving defenseman. I see one to two players playing in the NHL from this group,” Pronman wrote on Saturday.

The size of the Ruck twins was a knock on them entering the draft, but both had over 100+ points in the WHL for Medicine Hat this season, as the offensive potential is there.
