Barnes, a 14-year veteran, has been a steady reserve in San Antonio. He averaged 9.9 points in 26 minutes per game last season, appearing in 77 regular-season games as the Spurs reached the NBA Finals. The 6-foot-7 forward played all 82 games in his first season with the franchise. For his career, Barnes has averaged 13.6 points per game and is a 38.5% 3-point shooter, highlighted by an NBA title with the 2015 Golden State Warriors.

Before turning pro, Barnes starred at North Carolina from 2010 to 2012 and became one of the most decorated players of the Roy Williams era. The nation’s No. 1 overall recruit, he arrived in Chapel Hill as the first freshman ever named a Preseason All-American by the Associated Press.

Barnes averaged 15.6 points and 5.8 rebounds as a freshman in 2010-11, catching fire in ACC play, hitting multiple game-winning shots and earning ACC Rookie of the Year honors while leading the Tar Heels to the Elite Eight.

As a sophomore in 2011-12, he headlined a roster that included Kendall Marshall and John Henson, leading UNC in scoring at 17.1 points per game and shooting 44% from the field. He was named First-Team All-ACC and a Second-Team All-American as North Carolina again reached the Elite Eight.

In two seasons in Chapel Hill, Barnes averaged 16.3 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.3 assists over 75 games, earning an honored jersey in the Smith Center rafters. He was selected seventh overall by Golden State in the 2012 NBA Draft.
