Goff was promoted in 2019 to succeed Mark Wasikowski. He previously served as head coach at Alabama, Louisiana Tech, Campbell and Montevallo.

Goff is also eligible for annual bonuses based on finishing sixth or higher in the Big Ten, winning the Big Ten tournament, or for various levels of NCAA tournament advancement.

Purdue finished 37-20 last season, and sixth in the Big Ten Conference. It lost to No. 1 seed UCLA 3-1 in the quarterfinals of the conference tournament after leading through seven innings. However, it was not one of the teams granted an at-large bid to the 64-team field.

It was the Boilermakers' third straight 30-win season. It beat Baylor and Oregon State in non-conference play and won 11 of its 14 Big Ten weekends, including six in a row at one point.

Goff's record over seven Purdue seasons is 177-150.
