The Philadelphia 76ers' offseason filled with action continues.

The 76ers are signing former Chicago Bulls guard and free agent Anfernee Simons to a two-year, $12.3 million contract, per ESPN's Shams Charania.

"Just in: Free agent guard Anfernee Simons has agreed to a two-year, $12.3 million deal with the Philadelphia 76ers, with a player option in second season, sources tell ESPN. Simons chose the 76ers over other suitors believing his fit is perfect with the revamped 76ers roster," Charania posted to X.

Charania continued, "Simons -- who has averaged 18.8 points over the past five seasons and ranked sixth in 3s made off the bench last year -- gives the 76ers a major offensive boost after the team ranked in the bottom three in reserve scoring and 3-pointers made. His agent Bill Duffy of WME Basketball informed the 76ers of Simons’ decision this afternoon."

Simons split the 2025-2026 campaign between the Boston Celtics and Bulls, averaging 14.3 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 2.4 assists on 44.0% shooting and 38.5% shooting from three-point range in 55 games. It's worth noting he only played in six games for Chicago.

This is another great addition for the Sixers, as they were in desperate need of another player to finish out the guard room. Now, Philadelphia's backcourt will look as follows:

PG: Tyrese Maxey, Labaron Philon Jr.

SG: V.J. Edgecombe, Anfernee Simons

Simons is a great replacement for Quentin Grimes, who signed a lucrative deal with the Los Angeles Lakers earlier this week. The 76ers do miss out on some defensive prowess, but the offensive production will remain in a similar range. He is a solid scorer on all three levels but is especially strong from three-point range.

After trading for All-NBA wing Jaylen Brown, it became abundantly clear Philadelphia is a true title contender. That factor could have swayed Simons to sign with the 76ers over other competitive teams.

The Mike Gansey era in Philadelphia just keeps improving as the days pass.
